magnet therapy

Magnet therapy is the use of magnets of various types and strengths to affect the magnetic or energy field of the body in various ways. Magnets are known to have been put to therapeutic use in ancient Egypt, China and India, and the effectiveness of the treatment is being investigated again today.

There are a number of theories about how it works; some believe that it affects the iron in the blood, while others say it affects the electric impulses of the nervous system.

The treatment is quite simple-- the patient is put in physical contact with a magnet of a particular type and strength, whether installed in a bed, strapped to the body or even worn in the shoes.

Two types of magnets are commonly used, a pulsating type and the more familiar static type, similar to a fridge magnet. The two poles of the magnet are also believed to have different effects.

While most often recommended for pain relief, the benefits attributed to magnet therapy cover a very wide range, from cleansing of electromagnetic “pollution” from TVs and power lines to energy boost to fighting infections, AIDS and cancer.

While there have been no major studies on the therapeutic uses of magnets, there are very convincing testimonials on its effectiveness.
