hypnotherapy Hypnotism is a trance-like state, in some ways similar to sleep but without any loss of consciousness; in fact it is a state of heightened awareness, focus and concentration that allows a person to tap into the power of the unconscious mind in order to help with many psychological or physical problems. Some people are wary of hypnotism because they believe they surrender control to the practitioner, but this is not the case.A person cannot be hypnotized against their will, and cannot be made to do anything they dont want to while hypnotized. In some cases the therapeutic affect comes from recall and resolution of buried memories, painful experiences or perceptions. It can also be used for relaxation, stress relief and to affect direct changes on ones habits of thinking and living. Similarly to meditation or guided imagery, hypnotism can further be a tool for fighting physical problems, such as for pain relief, allergies and various diseases. articles
