healing touch

Developed by Denver RN Janet Mentgen in 1980, Healing Touch is a hands-on method of balancing the body’s energy to assist in healing wounds, fighting disease and promoting a feeling of wellbeing. Problems with the flow of energy through the body, which may be inhibiting the healing process, are sensed and realigned by the practitioner using hand motions. The basic goal is to assist the body with its own self-healing properties.

Usually used in combination with conventional medicine, the technique is claimed to help with anything from recovery from surgery to pain relief to cancer and AIDS, and is also used to ease the pain of labour and childbirth.
