Christopher's
Story
When our
son began E.C.S. in 1997, we were approached by his teacher, who suspected
he might have A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder). We made an appointment
with our family doctor, who in turn referred us to a pediatrician.
In his examination of Christopher, he felt that Christopher was a
"very likely candidate" for medication i.e. Ritalin; but
that he would prefer to wait until Christopher was six years old before
prescribing it. Thankfully, in the intervening months, we tried the
allergy elimination diet, and found that Christopher actually had
several food allergies: milk, corn, oranges, cane sugar and eggs.
Eggs produced the most dramatic reactions by far. If Christopher had
eggs, he was hyperactive and unable to concentrate - for three days!
The teacher told us that Christopher wasn't even able to sit still
in his desk during that time. He had been practicing words for a spelling
test all week, and knew them perfectly. However, in the test, which
came after eating the eggs, you could not even tell what Christopher
was trying to write - it was complete gibberish.
Over the next two years, we monitored Christopher's diet very closely.
To avoid the foods he was allergic to, we were basically cooking everything
from scratch. We made our own ketchup, baking powder, sausage, etc.,
and for an egg substitute, I would grind a tablespoon of flaxseed,
add three tablespoons of warm water, and let the mixture sit for ten
minutes. Eating out at a restaurant or at someone's home - became
an agonizing attempt at damage control, trying to choose the foods
with the least reactions.
Then in January 2000, I heard about N.A.E.T. (Nambrudripad Allergy
Elimination Technique), from both a psychologist and a chiropractor;
and decided to give it a try. The first treatment was for egg allergies,
and when we came back for the checkup, Dr. Haycock determined that
Christopher had a combination allergy between eggs and stomach acid.
He then did a treatment for the combination; and we tried giving Christopher
an egg. The experiment was a total success!!! Christopher had eggs
each of the next four days, with no reactions, - if anything, Christopher
seemed calmer than usual. My husband commented "I thought that
N.A.E.T. was 'hocus-pocus', but after watching Christopher eat eggs,
there's got to be something to it."
We are presently going through the N.A.E.T. protocol with Christopher.
I feel that these treatments have given Christopher (and ourselves!)
a "normal" life again. Now he will be able to go to a birthday
or school party and eat the same things as the other children. And
considering where we stared off a few years ago, with a diagnosis
of A.D.D. and a prescription for Ritalin, I am so thankful that we
were able to follow up with the alternative medicine therapies, and
discover N.A.E.T.
Dr. Jason Haycock told me of his own family's experience, which led
him to the N.A.E.T. procedure. I would like to take this opportunity
to thank him for his foresight and dedication in then studying the
procedure, and now offering this therapy to his patients.
