What is Pain?

Pain has been experienced for generations, yet with the advancement with technology and a greater scientific understanding of the body, pain continues to haunt people. There are many Canadians who live day to day with unrelieved pain and a limited quality of life with no end in sight.

There are two types of pain. Acute pain is where the signal to the body has been or is being damaged in some way. It is an alarm that requests immediate attention. When the pain is treated, the wound heals, the bone mends and usually the pain goes away.

Chronic Pain is persistent pain that tends to be constant rather than intermittent and can consist of a pattern of painful sensations that persist long after the initial injury. A chronic illness hangs around for months or years and can send people on a downward spiral of frustration, sleeping difficulties, and depression. Chronic pain can have a profound effect on the mental and physical wellbeing of the individual.

For some individuals who experience chronic pain, their life can become a nightmare. They have usually had a multitude of diagnostic assessments, medical exams only to be told that the cause of the pain remains a mystery. Chronic pain sufferers are frequently told they have to learn to live with the pain. More Information on Pain Click Here

Many people searching for complementary and alternative medicine for pain have tried everything conventional medicine has to offer.

The Best Combination

The best treatment for pain has been the best of both conventional medicine and complementary medicine. We strongly recommend that you do not abandon conventional medicine in favor of an unproven complementary or alternative health practice.

Complementary approaches to pain are not focused on eliminating pain but focus more on managing the pain more effectively. Numerous pain clinics across the country focus on psychological approaches, relaxation strategies, and exercise to effectively manage chronic pain and returning a certain quality of living back to the individual.
