What are Allergies?

An allergy is an immune system disorder where the body’s immune system responds aggressively to an allergen such as dust, mold, plant pollen, animal dander, drugs or food. These allergens stimulate an immune response which mobilizing the body’s white blood cells to fight the allergen. In an allergic reaction the body has overreacted to what should be a harmless substance (such as grass or pollen), causing an allergic response of nasal congestion, coughing, wheezing, itching, hives, skin rashes, headaches and fatigue.
