Weeks to Optimum Health
By: Dr. Andrew Weil, author of Spontaneous Healing
A
Proven Program for Taking Full Advantage of Your Body's Natural
Healing Power.
Written
by one of the natural health world's most prominent leaders, Dr.
Andrew Weil has designed a practical, sensible and enjoyable program
that is easy enough for anyone to follow-and stick to!
A graduate of
Harvard Medical School, Dr. Weil has spent a great deal of time
observing the sources of healing from deep within the rain forests
of South America. He has also studied healing practices from all
over the world. Incorporating conventional medicine wisdom with
his in-depth knowledge of natural healing, Dr. Weil has made remarkable
discoveries that have influenced the course of integrative medicine
all over North America.
In his book,
8 Weeks to Optimum Health, Dr. Weil shares many of those
discoveries made throughout his years of research. In each of the
weeks throughout the book he gradually introduces step-by-step changes
intended to promote healthy living based on the body's natural ability
to heal. It's a practical plan of action, which will safeguard the
healing system, improve resilience to disease, help manage stress,
and bring more joy and happiness into your life.
Week by week,
Dr. Weil gradually introduces the reader to small lifestyle changing
steps, making the program very easy to adapt to. Each week the focus
is different. In week 1 the participant will learn the importance
of breathing exercises, vitamin C and olive oil; week 2 is filtered
water; week 3 organic food; week 4 is focused on bringing a spiritual
perspective to your life (optional, but highly recommended says
Dr. Weil); week 5 speaks about the benefits of using a steam bath
or sauna; week 6 is on relationships and intimacy; week 7 is on
the power of volunteering. In week 8 you will learn how to permanently
implement these steps into your life.
8 Weeks to Optimum
Health touches on the prevention and treatment of ailments such
as back pain, the common cold and flu, and insomnia. The book also
addresses preventative measures for cancer, heart disease, and cardiovascular
disease.
In the last
section of the book Dr. Weil has developed customized get well plans
for those over the age of 30, 40, and 50; as well as for men, women,
parents of young children, those at risk of cancer, frequent travelers,
and individuals who are over weight.
8 Weeks to Optimum
Health is intended to be used as a program guide, but is equally
as valuable as a reference manual for healthy living. This is truly
another book that no home library should be without.
